A Space to Breathe, Bloom, and Thrive.

Nervous System Regulation & Trauma Healing

At Blue Oak Counseling, the blue oak tree (Quercus douglasii) symbolizes the strength, resilience, and grounded presence that I believe each of us has within. Like the blue oak, which grows in California’s foothills and valleys, we too, have the capacity to thrive when nurtured in the right environment.

In my practice, I draw on this symbolism by guiding you to reconnect with your body’s resources and discover your inherent capacity for healing. Just as the blue oak's roots reach deep into the earth, we work together to ground you in the present moment, fostering a sense of safety and stability. With somatic therapy and trauma-informed, evidence-based approaches, we’ll work together to regulate your nervous system, build new neural pathways, and help you foster a sense of empowerment.

About Me

Julie Quillen, MA, SEP, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor #17029

I offer holistic, heart-centered therapy with a focus on the mind-body connection. I’m here to support you as you navigate life’s challenges, deepen your inner resources, and develop tools to embrace a meaningful life. I bring attunement, warmth, and curiosity to my work, and I believe that we are all capable of growth. It is a privilege to hear your story and bear witness to your unique experience.

I specialize in trauma treatment through nervous system regulation and mindful processing, drawing on my certifications in Somatic Experiencing and Brainspotting, as well as my training in EMDR. I’ve had the honor of working with individuals, families, and couples from all walks of life, and I’m passionate about helping people navigate trauma and loss, as well as integrating their experiences of altered states of consciousness.

Having personally navigated grief and change, I’ve learned to tend to these emotions with gentleness and curiosity. I welcome all aspects of your experience—the shadows, the trauma, the grief, and the moments of aliveness and presence. Together, let’s explore these spaces of heart, body, and mind.
